１９１１年のこの日、ノルウェーの探検家、アムンゼンらが世界で初めて南極点に到達した。

12月13日はビタミンの日。

「ビタミンの日」制定委員会が２０００年９月に制定。１９１０年のこの日、鈴木梅太郎博士がビタミンＢ１と同じ成分である、米ぬかの抽出物「オリザニン」を学会で発表した。
