10月14日は鉄道の日。
１８７２（明治５）年９月１２日（新暦１０月１４日）、日本初の鉄道が新橋?横浜間で開業したことを記念して、国鉄が「鉄道記念日」と制定。ＪＲ発足後１９９４（平成６）年に「鉄道の日」と改称した。
